Green Bay - Chicago - Los Angeles
Green Bay to Chicago flight went very smoothly.

The jet was small but fast.

Liz pretending to be looking at my head.

Damn!  I never knew the jowls were that big!

Zach getting really sleepy at LAX.

Liz getting ready to "sneak" another cigarette between flights.

MaryBeth's brother Rob visited with us during our layover in LAX.  We had lunch at the Daily Grill.

Zach out cold. MaryBeth doing yoga to keep awake.

Shortly after this picture we got in line to board the flight to Melbourne.  Then we discovered our boarding passes were not valid.  Qantas does not accept the boarding pass from their "partner" American Airlines.

We got into the Qantas queue, were re-issued boarding passes and rushed through Australian security and then boarded the 747-400.   This is one huge aircraft.

The seating is 3-4-3 across.  Each seat has a small monitor for TV and flight updates.  There is an icon that moves on the world map to show you where over the Pacific you happen to be.  Air speed was around 545 mph.  It still took 15.5 hours plus a few minutes for headwinds to get across.

They served two meals and several rounds of water.  The air in the cabin was very dry buy much more pleasant than the minus 40-60 F outside the window at 38000 feet.
